Le piano bar de l’Hotel d’Aubusson

Updated: Jan 24, 2022

Hotel d'Aubusson is a charming little hotel located in the heart of the chic Saint-Germain des Prés district, along rue Dauphine (the first street in Paris, by the way) leading to the Seine and the Pont-Neuf.

Hotel lobbies and their piano bars are often warm landmarks out of time and where it is good to snuggle up to rest at the end of a long day of visits and intensive walks through the city.

As with the majority of hotels, it is not necessary to stay there to have the right to have a drink at its bar.

It turns out that at Hotel d'Aubusson there is a Jazz concert at least 3 times a week!

Yes ! The Hotel perpetuates with the Jazz tradition of the Saint Germain district and its mythical Jazz Clubs of yesteryear and while in 1947 the Lobby and its Café Laurent (the Piano Bar) remained open all night, as in the cellars of the Latin Quarters!

Today all you have to do is go to the Hotel from 9:00 p.m. on weekdays and on Saturday evenings and you will attend a Jazz concert (almost free) since all you have to do is order something à la carte.

For the record, some young figures of the Israeli Jazz scene are used to performing here, in particular the double bass player Yoni Zelnik.

A word about Aubusson, world capital of Tapestry:

Aubusson is a city in the Department of Creuse, in the heart of deep France.

It is home to the Cité Internationale de la Tapisserie and is therefore the city where tapestry was born, around 1500. It is therefore in this region that we were woven a large part of the tapestries that adorn the most castles in France and elsewhere.

The city of Aubusson continues to weave tapestries, the tradition continues until today and the visit of the museum and the City of the Tapestry is really to do, if you arrive in this region.
